Isla's Halloween...and More

Isla had a great Halloween!  Notice Ryan and I are the same, Captain Hook and Smee...but this time we are complete by Isla being the Tick Tock Crocodile!!!!  We went to her school for a trunk or treat, and also walked the neighborhood for a little while.  The week before Halloween her school had a fall festival day for the kids.  It was during school hours and the playground was transformed into a western festival.  There were pumpkins for the kids, wagon rides, scarecrow dress up, play horses to ride, fake cows to milk, and lots more.  Her school is great...we are truly blessed to have her there.  She also just finished a four week horse riding class where she learned to brush and saddle a horse and also learned how to ride it using the reins and commands.

Our "Lil Tick Tock Croc"!

Captain Hook and the Tick Tock Croc are friends tonight.

Me and my crocodile.
Taking her wagon ride @ her school fall festival.

Riding a horse with her friend Addison.

I got to come help out and watch them all have fun.
Her first day @ horse class.

She was able to feed other animals after her class, she liked the cow.

About four weeks ago, Pastor Chuck Smith of Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa passed away.  Our church organized a paddle out ceremony at the HB pier a couple weeks ago and we went.  Ryan is out there somewhere and Isla and I are on the pier watching and listening to our Pastor speak.  (There are about 1/3 of the people missing from my picture angle.)  It was a great turn out to pay respect and celebrate Pastor Chuck's life and the work he did to spread the gospel.

Isla's 3rd Birthday!!!! Argh!!!!

Hi everyone...sorry this is so late considering her birthday was over a month ago.  Well here are some pictures from her birthday party, which was held at my parents house.  She had a pirate party!!!  Of course that meant that we had to dress up...you'll see.  There are also some pictures from her school birthday celebration and on the day of her birthday she invited a friend to chuck e. cheese.

We also got to come see her celebrate during snack time.

She got to go into the ticket booth where it blew tickets at her and she had to collect as many as she could.

Isla's Busy Summer!

It has been a while since the last post, so sorry for all the pictures at once.  At the beginning of the summer the ocean temperature was supposedly warm according to Ryan (which to my standard is still cold) so he attempted to take Isla in the waves.  He put a life vest on her and even took her on his paddle board in the small waves.  If you don't already know this, Isla doesn't like the ocean...she is terrified of the big waves.  But Ryan is hoping she outgrows this so he can have a 'lil surfing buddy.  Ryan's parents also came out in June, and we met them in San Diego for a fun weekend.  Isla also took swimming lessons everyday for two weeks, which was a commitment.  At first she hated it because she didn't want to go under water, but by the third day she was doing great!  We are proud of you Isla!  Oh yeah...Ryan and Isla went on a bug safari in the house one evening.  Which meant I got to hide giant bugs around the house and Isla got to find them with tongs and a magnifying glass.  And the latest trip we went to Monterey for a friends wedding, so just a few photos from that.  Hope everyone is having a great summer thus far...Katie

Going out to sea...doesn't she look happy?

Trying to catch a wave!

Back on shore...much better!

Her last day of pre-school this past year, with her teacher.
Having fun at Sea World with her grandparents!

Time to rest after feeding the sea lions.

Watching Shamu...or Shampu as Isla calls it.

Trying to catch him...I think.

Back at the hotel for some pool fun!
Swim lessons begin.

Swimming underwater, which is a huge accomplishment from the first day.

Holding on to the teacher and singing "ring around the rosie...then they all fall down"...into the water.

Walking onto the diving board to jump to her teacher in the water.

Walking a 'lil further....

Getting closer....

Almost there....

Oh...never mind.

See ya later...I'm not jumping!

Her teacher helped her out, then dove in after her.

Flying after a big throw!

Very proud of herself!

Their bug safari is about to begin!

Isla investigates a bug (a fake one of course) after her capture.

A successful bug safari!
At the Monterey wedding.

They had an indoor wave at the reception.

We also had a friend take some family photos in April...just haven't shared them.

Oh yeah, I'm sure everyone knows by now...but we are having another baby and we just found out it's a GIRL!  A house of girls for Ryan.
